Design Manager / Technical Manager, £60,000, Commutable from Nottingham, Mansfield, Chesterfield

Newly created Design Manager / Technical Manager / Engineering Manager role to support continued business growth.
Industry leader within the commercial vehicle design and manufacturing sector.
£60,000 salary guide + benefits & a lunchtime finish on a Friday!

Reporting to board level within a stable and successful commercial vehicle design and manufacturing business you will lead the design engineering function which is split across two UK sites. Both sites have a local Design Manager that will report into this role.

This Design Manager / Technical Manager job will suit:

Previous experience of working within a commercial vehicle manufacturing / heavy goods vehicle / coachbuilding or similar large vehicle design and manufacturing environment
Previous experience of leading and managing design engineers / design engineering teams / engineering teams.
Strong mechanical engineering background (this is a metal fabrication, and welding manufacturing environment).
Experience of using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor experience advantageous but not essential).
You will hold a relevant qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, degree) in a mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering or a similar engineering discipline.

This Design Manager / Technical Manager job will involve:

You will lead two design engineering teams through two direct reports across two separate sites. Both direct reports lead each local design engineering team (the total team size is approx. 15 Design Engineers across both sites).
You will work closely with each Design Manager to support the efficient and effective running of their teams, ensuring design projects are delivered into production on time, and within budget.
You oversee all design / engineering resources and delivery of engineering work on a day-to-day basis across both sites.
Some travel to both sites is expected from time-to-time (both sites are within the UK).
