Senior Category Buyer

Purchasing position responsible for procuring parts and indirect sourcing.

Seeking someone who can help mentor and develop more junior level Buyers.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Category Buyer to drive both direct and indirect purchasing activities. Ideally, you will be used to working within an engineering / manufacturing environment and have excellent relationship building skills with suppliers. Development opportunities are available within this role.

This Senior Category Buyer job will suit:

Someone with material sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experienced in developing a procurement strategy.
Strong communicator and capable of developing supplier relationships. Managing supplier on time/in full delivery performance.
Someone who has worked within a global engineering business.
Proven experience mentoring junior members of staff (or open to mentoring others).
Hold a degree qualification (or equivalent).
Ideally hold a MCIPS qualification (or working towards) and be keen to develop in general.

The Senior Category Buyer job will involve:

Ensure the most cost effective and efficient inflow of spares and services within the business.
Around 60 / 70% indirect focussed vs direct purchasing.
Dealing with a global supplier base, you will be responsible for on boarding, evaluating and assessing supplier suitability / quality / performance.
Building strong relationships with suppliers in order to maximize performance..
Supporting the development of a team of Buyers whilst being accountable and responsible for Direct and Indirect Procurement.
