Senior Buyer

£40-44,000 + Pension

Senior Buyer job to focus on purchasing and procurement in a small manufacturing and engineering business which is part of a professional international organisation. The Senior Buyer will purchase raw materials, consumables and indirect spend items associated with engineering and manufacturing. The Senior Buyer will be joining a well organised finance and purchasing team, with accurate data and accurate stock records in place.

•Negotiate price and supplier terms to optimise both cost and value, and contribute to the company objectives regarding costs and price variance.

•Manage supply lead times with suppliers to meet production plans and supplier agreements.

•Chase production and engineering colleagues for production plan updates and to confirm what needs to be purchased in order to meet the manufacturing plan. This might include some long lead time items.

•Seek cost downs, and assess suppliers against delivery SLA and quality/reject SLAs.

•Work with stores and supply chain colleagues to identify stock holding, obsolescence and end of production dates, and communicate with suppliers to agree end of supply dates.

•Use tools like RFI and RFQ to assess suppliers, including alternative sources and new suppliers.

Salary Guideline: £40-44,000 + Pension

Experience Required

•Experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing or engineering business.

•Good communication skills, negotiating dates and prices in a positive way to win commitment and agreement in the short and long term.

•Eye for detail, and confident user of spreadsheets and or ERP systems, ideally Dynamics AX.

•The business is growing, so this will suit a person with ambition to grow with the business.
