This Mechanical Design Engineer job will suit:

• You could have worked in a wide variety of positions previously e.g. Design Engineer or Project Engineer or Production Engineer, it is your experience that is more important.
• An Engineer with knowledge and experience of commercial vehicles or very similar vehicles, specifically bodywork or chassis would be very advantageous.
• You will be able to produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings and designs.
• You are likely to hold a relevant engineering qualification e.g. apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree.

This Mechanical Design Engineer job will involve:  

• Working closely with the Engineering Manager to support the design and build of commercial vehicle / truck bodywork. These could be brand new designs or the design of bodywork for accident repair. 
• Creating 2D and 3D component and assembly drawings.
• Ensuring vehicle industry regulations and type approval processes are adhered to.
• Production planning and support.
• Other responsibilities will include assessing damage on existing vehicles, producing project cost estimates, compiling bill of materials, liaising with suppliers.
