Manufacturing Engineer

  • Varied engineering role that will see you improve assembly processes.

  • Would suit a Manufacturing / Production / Process Engineer who can implement changes.

Rare engineering opportunity within an established engineering group. Day shift only with lots of variety. Opportunity to make your own decisions to improve manufacturing.

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 per annum. 37 hour week. 5% pension. Healthcare, life insurance.

Hours:Day Shift Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00, Friday 07:30 to 12:30

The Assembly Engineer job will involve:

  • Provide leadership, technical direction and management to the assembly, clean area and bench process technicians to deliver excellent performance by setting clear expectations linked to business targets.

  • Develop best-practice technical literature, including writing standard operational procedures (SOP’s), ensuring they are clear and in place for equipment & processes.

  • Accountable for continuous improvements; identifying existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimise risks, costs, and wastage; increase yields and productivity; and improve the quality and consistency of the final product.

  • Promote the use and function of methods to drive process improvements such as Root, Cause, Corrective Action (RCCA) and 5 Why’s, utilising existing tools available such as process audits and Statistical Analysis to improve right first time whilst reducing of scrap & rework.

  • Support the production team to minimise downtime by reacting to any given issue.

  • Project manage and present your team’s annual projects, developing technical and economic engineering solutions.

  • Lead process simulation, using software such as Solidworks and Abaqus to aid with new product introduction and improve existing parts.

This Assembly Engineer job will suit:

  • Excellent critical reasoning skills and experience using problem solving techniques.

  • Experience in technical manufacturing in a process engineering role.

  • Able to manage complex data and have experience in applying statistical analysis techniques to process control.

  • High level of computer literacy including Microsoft suite.

  • Good interpersonal skills, with experience of team management to motivate and lead by example.
