Maintenance Engineering Technician – Wantage, Oxfordshire

Engineering Technician job in the Mechanical Maintenance Engineering team in a manufacturing factory. Monday to Friday, with some call outs or weekends now and again. Mechanical engineering maintenance on a planned preventative mechanical maintenance, often involving mechanical fitting of replaceable mechanical parts, plus some reactive repair maintenance. Reporting to Engineering Manager, you will be a part of multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting ongoing investment into company’s machinery and facilities.

Salary & Package: £26,200 salary guideline, depending on experience. Plus pension and benefits. Once trained there is the opportunity to earn additional income by being available for call-outs.

This job will suit:

•Practical person with engineering or mechanical fitter experience.

•Trained in Mechanical Engineering City & Guilds Level 1 & 2 or a similar level.

•Some practical experience as an engineering technical as a fitter, or with some metal fabrication, welding or metal cutting experience would be ideal.

•Factory based experience of day to day safety at work.

•Experience of using lifting equipment, scissors lifts or FLT or similar will be very valuable experience too.

•The job is day times Monday to Friday, and after extensive training there will be the opportunity to be included in the call-out team; this increases the pay by roughly £4,000 for being available on a rota for any urgent repairs outside of standard day-time working hours.

This job is commutable from Wantage, Oxford, Swindon, Witney, Didcot, Abingdon and surrounding Oxfordshire areas.
