We are looking for a proven leader to manage and grow the complete operations of an automotive engineering research, development, and test operations group across 2 sites (near Coventry and Essex) focused on propulsion, powertrain, electromobility, EV battery test, and fuel cells technology areas. The role would be based on the Midlands site with 1 day per week spent at the Essex site.

Your background as a Head of Test Operations:

​

• You will be a proven leader of people with a background in leading, managing, and developing large teams within engineering or technical research and development environments.

• Previous experience within an automotive engineering / automotive test and development / vehicle technology development / technical R&D environment would be advantageous.

• Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness to manage a P&L and deliver revenue growth.

• You are likely to be degree educated or hold an equivalent level of experience.

Your Responsibilities:

​

• P&L accountability for 4 engineering groups / business units across 2 sites, generating £15m - £20m in revenue with a total combined headcount of 70 people. 3 direct reports who manage each individual department / business unit.

• Engineering groups cover automotive propulsion, powertrain, electromobility, EV battery test, and fuel cells technology areas.

• Lead the strategic direction of the group.

• Promote excellence, this is a values driven business with a fantastic culture.

• Lead, manage and continuously improve the day-to-day operational activities of the group.

• Coach, mentor and develop direct reports – it is a very capable and growth focused team environment.

• Deliver capital investment projects and return on investment.

• Customer facing role – support the development of great customer relationships and the customer experience.

• Budget setting and management.
