The Design Engineering Manager job will suit:

• A Design Engineering Manager with previous experience of leading the process of successfully taking a product through R&D, design, test and into manufacture is preferred.
• The emphasis is very much on technical leadership / leading the design process rather than lots of people leadership.
• Any specific exposure to any of the following would be advantageous; electronic control systems; process equipment; electromechanical engineering systems; instrumentation; pressure vessels; composite materials.    
• You are likely to be degree qualified in a relevant engineering, science based or similar discipline.

The Design Engineering Manager job will involve:  

• Working very closely with the Engineering Director as the design authority within the business.
• Lead, manage, support and develop a small team of Engineers involved in a diverse range of engineering research, design and test work (emphasis on technical leadership).  
• We are looking for a candidate that can bring some best practice around drawing control / systems of working / good practical processes into the business – must suit the business on a practical level not one size fits all.
• Engineering work content covers mechanical engineering, electronic control systems and composites.
• This is a SME engineering environment so you will be very close to the technical/R&D/design work taking place, therefore you will draw upon your technical background to contribute ideas / support technical work as appropriate.
