The engineering, manufacturing, and technology sectors are evolving at an unprecedented pace, but one challenge remains stubbornly persistent: the underrepresentation of women in STEM.
Despite progress, women make up only 16% of engineers in the UK, and nearly half leave the profession mid-career. At leadership levels, the gap is even more pronounced, with women holding just 8% of senior roles and being 20% less likely than men to receive promotions.
But forward-thinking companies are no longer viewing gender diversity as just a metric - they’re leveraging it as a competitive advantage. Research shows that organisations with greater gender diversity are 25% more likely to achieve above-average profitability.
