South Oxfordshire | Medical Devices | R&D | Product Development | Manufacturing
Are you an experienced Senior Medical Device Design Engineer, Medical Device Development Engineer, or R&D Engineer looking for an opportunity to help develop innovative medical technology within a fast-growing engineering business?
This Senior Medical Device Design Engineer job in South Oxfordshire offers the chance to join an ambitious medical device design and manufacturing company during an exciting phase of expansion. Working within a newly established, state-of-the-art medical device R&D and cleanroom manufacturing facility, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and industrialisation of advanced medical devices.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in medical device design, product development, biomedical engineering, or medical technology R&D who want to work on projects spanning concept development through to low-volume manufacture within a collaborative and technically driven environment.
About the Company
This innovative medical technology business specialises in the design, development, and manufacture of medical devices, combining research and development expertise with low-volume production capability.
The company is currently experiencing strong growth and has recently relocated to a brand-new medical device R&D and cleanroom manufacturing facility in South Oxfordshire. Backed by significant investment from a larger medical technology group, the business is expanding its engineering capability, technical infrastructure, and product development capacity.
Despite this investment and growth, the organisation maintains the collaborative and agile culture of a specialist engineering SME, providing employees with the opportunity to influence projects, contribute ideas, and work closely across multidisciplinary teams.
This newly created Senior Medical Device Design Engineer role reflects the company’s ongoing investment in innovation, product development, and engineering excellence.
The Role – Senior Medical Device Design Engineer
As a Senior Medical Device Design Engineer, you will take a leading technical role within medical device development projects, supporting products from early-stage concept work through development, verification, industrialisation, and low-volume manufacturing.
This is a hands-on engineering role offering excellent technical variety. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and development teams to help bring innovative medical devices from design into practical production environments.
The position would suit a Medical Device Design Engineer, Product Development Engineer, R&D Engineer, or Development Engineer who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle within a regulated medical device environment.
You will contribute to both product innovation and practical engineering delivery, supporting everything from CAD design and testing through to manufacturing readiness and design transfer activities.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Medical Device Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Leading technical aspects of medical device design and development projects
Supporting products through the full lifecycle from concept development through to low-volume production
Creating detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings

Working closely with manufacturing teams to support prototype builds and low-volume production activities
Contributing to engineering documentation and technical records within a regulated medical device environment
Supporting medical device design controls and engineering processes
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and drive project progress
This role offers exposure to a wide variety of medical device engineering activities, combining product innovation, practical engineering problem-solving, and manufacturing collaboration.
