Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer

£50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

Grantham | Newark | Melton Mowbray | Nottinghamshire | Lincolnshire

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer to join a successful and well-established engineering and manufacturing SME offering varied project work, technical ownership, and genuine engineering influence.

This Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer job in the Grantham / Newark / Melton Mowbray region would suit engineers seeking greater variety, autonomy, and hands-on technical involvement within an agile engineering environment.

Working within a collaborative design engineering team, you will contribute across the full product lifecycle, supporting the design, development, improvement, and manufacture of specialist engineered products, machinery, and electromechanical systems.

If you are looking for a senior engineering role where you can influence products, projects, and engineering decisions rather than working in a repetitive design environment, this opportunity offers outstanding long-term potential.

About the Company

This established engineering and manufacturing business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineered solutions across a diverse range of projects and applications.

Operating as a successful and profitable SME, the company offers the stability of an established organisation combined with the flexibility, visibility, and collaborative culture often associated with smaller engineering teams.

The business designs, develops, and manufactures a broad range of engineered equipment and electromechanical systems, supporting both bespoke customer requirements and ongoing product development initiatives.

Unlike larger corporate environments where engineering roles can become highly specialised or process-driven, this organisation provides engineers with the opportunity to work across multiple disciplines, contribute ideas directly, and take genuine ownership of technical work.

You will join a small, highly collaborative engineering team where your expertise, practical input, and engineering judgement will have a visible impact.

The Role – Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer

As a Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer, you will take a leading role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of engineered products, machinery, and electromechanical equipment.

This is a broad and technically varied position where you will work across projects involving special purpose equipment, engineered machinery, materials handling systems, fabricated assemblies, and electromechanical products.

You will support projects from concept and design development through to manufacture, testing, implementation, and ongoing product enhancement.

The role offers an excellent balance of technical design work, practical engineering problem solving, and collaborative project involvement.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical systems, products, and equipment.

  • Creating detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.

  • Using CAD software to support concept development, detailed design, and product modification activities (SolidWorks experience advantageous).

  • Working on new product development, bespoke customer projects, and engineering improvement initiatives.

  • Applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to deliver practical, manufacturable, and commercially effective engineering solutions.

  • Collaborating closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs support practical production requirements.

  • Supporting testing, validation, engineering calculations, and technical analysis activities.

  • Identifying opportunities for product improvement, engineering efficiency, and continuous technical development.

This Senior Electromechanical Design Engineer role offers significant technical exposure and project ownership within a dynamic engineering SME environment.
