The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial and financial performance of multiple high-value engineering and rail infrastructure projects from tender stage through to final account.

Working closely with project managers, procurement teams, operational teams and senior stakeholders, you will ensure projects are delivered in a commercially effective manner while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities

As the successful Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:

• Managing the commercial and financial performance of multiple engineering and infrastructure projects.

• Supporting projects from tender and bid stage through to completion and final account.

• Assisting with tender submissions, pricing exercises and commercial risk assessments.

• Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasts to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

• Preparing and managing valuations throughout the project lifecycle.

• Administering contract variations and change control procedures.

• Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and payment applications.

• Supporting cost reporting and commercial performance analysis.

• Contributing to risk management activities and early warning processes.

• Ensuring contractual obligations are understood and effectively managed.

• Working closely with project delivery, procurement and operational teams.

• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

• Identifying opportunities for commercial improvement and enhanced project profitability.

• Supporting the continuous development of commercial systems and processes within the business.

Quantity Surveyor Requirements

To be successful in this role, you are likely to have experience in a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial project management position within an engineering-related sector.

Key experience and skills include:

• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on high-value contracts and projects.

• Strong commercial management experience across project lifecycles.

• Knowledge and understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts.

• Experience in cost management, budgeting and forecasting.

• Proven capability in managing valuations and change control processes.

• Strong understanding of commercial risk management.

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

• Ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

• Full UK driving licence.

Salary and Benefits
