Purchasing Buyer job vacancy in Hinckley and Nuneaton area.
Are you a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, Purchasing Officer or Junior Category Manager looking to build a real commercial career — not just raise purchase orders?
This Buyer / Procurement role offers genuine ownership, supplier influence and commercial responsibility within a growing global manufacturing business. If you're currently working as a Buyer, Assistant Buyer, Procurement Analyst or Purchasing Coordinator, this is your opportunity to step into a more strategic, value-driven role.
The Role – Buyer / Procurement Specialist
As a Buyer / Purchasing Officer, you’ll take ownership of supplier performance, cost control and material availability — going beyond transactional purchasing into true procurement responsibility.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supplier negotiation, cost reduction and cost avoidance, and wants to challenge suppliers to deliver better value, not just lower prices.
Key Responsibilities
Manage ERP and purchase order processes to support production plans
Deliver effective MRP-driven procurement and purchasing activity
Lead supplier negotiations, contract discussions and performance reviews
Control supplier spend, inventory levels and supply risk
Drive cost savings and commercial improvements across the supply chain
Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, MP&L and quality teams
Support new product introduction (NPI), costings and supplier selection
What We’re Looking For
Experience in a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, Purchasing Officer or Supply Chain role
Strong negotiation skills and confidence dealing with suppliers
Commercial mindset with the ability to influence and challenge
Experience using ERP / MRP systems
Degree or equivalent experience (preferred but not essential)
Why Join?
Global manufacturing business with a strong market position
Growing company with clear investment and long-term stability
Genuine career progression from Buyer to Senior Buyer, Category Manager or Procurement Manager
A role focused on commercial procurement, not passive purchasing
Salary & Benefits
£40,000–£45,000
Bonus typically around 5%
6–8% employer pension contribution
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
