Fleet Engineer jobs role with a successful fleet management and vehicle hire business. This role is specifically working on public sector contracts which is a growth area for the business.

This Fleet Engineer job will suit:

  • We are looking for a candidate with a strong fleet engineering or fleet management background. You are likely to have worked within a Fleet Engineer or Fleet Controller or Fleet Manager or Maintenance Controller or similar position.
  • Experience of managing people or a small team – you have two Fleet Controllers reporting into you.
  • You will need to have a good technical background so you are likely to have a Light Commercial Vehicle LCV Technician or Heavy Goods Vehicle HGV Technician background.
  • The role will be customer facing so you have the personal qualities to work effectively and build long standing effective relationships with customers.
  • Any prior experience of public sector / blue light / emergency vehicle fleet management would be advantageous but NOT essential.

Fleet Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Proactive customer support – this will be a various levels within public sector organisations.
  • Undertake formal quarterly review meetings with public sector organisations.  
  • SLA development with 3rd Party Workshops and escalation point for approval of work.  
  • Leadership and management of x2 Fleet Controllers including carrying out 1-2-1s, appraisals and helping them to develop.
  • Technical support for your Fleet Controllers as required.
  • Support the public sector contracts and tender management process.
  • Budget setting and management; cost and KPI analysis (you will get support from the finance team).
