The Role
As a Drafting Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering bespoke mechanical engineering projects from initial customer requirements through to completed technical documentation. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, customers, suppliers, and internal colleagues, you will gain valuable exposure to the full project lifecycle rather than focusing solely on CAD design.
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two projects are the same. You will be involved in designing complex mechanical systems and creating high-quality engineering drawings tailored to customer specifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings using CAD software.
Designing bespoke mechanical systems for a variety of customer applications.
Managing projects throughout the full design lifecycle.
Interpreting customer specifications and converting requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Working closely with suppliers and customers to ensure project requirements are achieved.
Supporting manufacturing and production teams throughout project delivery.
Collaborating with the Engineering Manager on both technical and commercial aspects of projects.
Ensuring drawings and documentation meet quality and engineering standards.
Contributing ideas for continuous improvement and engineering best practice.

A background within manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to work alongside customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
A proactive approach with the desire to take ownership of projects.
The ability to manage multiple engineering tasks in a varied environment.
A genuine enthusiasm for developing both technical and commercial engineering skills.

Qualifications
Applicants will ideally hold one of the following:
