​Design Engineering Manager

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

£60-65,000 + pension, 24days holiday plus bank holidays, and early finish on Fridays.

A CAD Design Engineering Manager is required to lead the CAD Engineering function at a stable, growing UK manufacturer with long‑term customer relationships.The CAD Design Engineering Manager will manage a team of CAD Engineers, overseeing the delivery of detailed CAD engineering drawings for predominantly bespoke projects (circa 80%), while shaping a more modular design approach for future growth.

£60-65,000 + pension, 24days holiday plus bank holidays, and early finish on Fridays.

The CAD Design Engineering Manager will:

• Manage and develop a team of 6 CAD Engineers, providing technical leadership, mentoring and workload planning

• Convert customer concept drawings and evolving briefs into detailed CAD engineering drawings, including components, assemblies, part numbers and BOMs

• Manage CAD Engineering interfaces with Manufacturing, Project and Commercial teams

• Ensure CAD Engineer output meets project deadlines, quality standards and customer requirements

• Lead medium‑term design strategy, developing modularised sub‑assemblies that support standardisation while accommodating bespoke designs and customer branding

• Take responsibility for recruiting two additional CAD Engineers within the next 12 months

Profile required

• Experience leading or managing CAD Engineers or Design Engineering teams

• HND or Degree qualified Engineer (or equivalent experience)

• Strong background as a Design Engineer / CAD Engineer

• Comfortable working to project deadlines and adapting to evolving customer briefs

• Able to balance engineering, styling and branding requirements
