The Design Engineer Role
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering design engineering projects from concept through to manufacture, contributing to products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards.
Working across new product introduction (NPI) programmes, you will support the design and development of innovative products while also improving existing product ranges. As you develop your experience, you will have the opportunity to work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements before translating these into practical engineering solutions.
This role provides excellent learning and development across the full engineering lifecycle, allowing you to see products develop from initial concepts through prototype development, testing, manufacturing, and product launch.
Key Responsibilities
Working on mechanical design and product development projects from concept through to manufacture.
Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Creo.
Helping to design new products and develop improvements to existing product ranges.
Build and evaluate prototypes to validate product performance.
Use in-house testing facilities to support product development.
Collaborate with manufacturing, production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure successful product introduction.

To be successful, you will ideally have:
Experience within a mechanical design or product development engineering environment.

Experience producing 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders.

This Design Engineer role is based in Leicestershire and is commutable from Leicester, Loughborough, Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Hinckley, Derby, Burton upon Trent, Swadlincote, Tamworth, Long Eaton, Lutterworth, Nuneaton, and surrounding areas across the East Midlands.
