CNC Turner Jobs in Nottingham | CNC Machinist / CNC Lathe Operator

CNC Turner – Nottingham | 4 Day Working Week | Precision Engineering

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Turner to join a growing precision engineering company based near Nottingham. This permanent CNC Turner job offers a highly sought-after 4 day working week, flexible day shift hours, optional overtime, and the chance to work on specialist low to medium batch manufacturing projects for the Oil & Gas sector.

This role would suit a skilled CNC Machinist, CNC Lathe Operator, or CNC Setter Operator with experience working on HAAS and Fanuc controlled machinery within a high-quality engineering environment. The company manufactures specialist precision components and offers long-term stability, clean modern facilities, and varied technical work across bespoke engineering projects.

About the Company

This established engineering business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality precision machined components to demanding industrial sectors, including Oil & Gas. Operating from a modern and well-equipped manufacturing facility, the company specialises in low and medium batch production work where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential.

The business continues to grow and invest in its people, machinery, and manufacturing capabilities. Employees benefit from a supportive working environment, varied engineering projects, and opportunities to further develop their machining and CNC skills.

Unlike high-volume production environments, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to work on specialist components and bespoke packages of work, helping CNC Turners broaden their experience across different materials, tolerances, and machining techniques.

The CNC Turner Role

As a CNC Turner, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision engineered parts to tight tolerances. You will work primarily with HAAS and Fanuc controlled machines producing specialist components in low to medium batch quantities.

The successful CNC Turner will play an important role within the machine shop, ensuring components are produced accurately, efficiently, and to the high standards expected within the Oil & Gas industry.

This is an ideal opportunity for a CNC Machinist who enjoys precision engineering work rather than repetitive high-volume manufacturing. The varied nature of the work means no two projects are exactly the same, offering excellent day-to-day variety and technical challenge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting and operating CNC lathes

  • Manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances

  • Working with HAAS and Fanuc controlled CNC machinery

  • Machining materials including Aluminium and Stainless Steel

  • Producing low to medium batch work

  • Reading and working from engineering drawings

  • Maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy

  • Supporting efficient production within the machine shop

  • Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with engineering specifications

Programming experience would be advantageous for this CNC Turner role, although it is not essential. Candidates with strong setting and operating experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience with HAAS or Fanuc controls

  • Background working on low or medium volume production

  • Experience machining precision components

  • Understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Candidates from precision engineering, subcontract machining, aerospace, Oil & Gas, or specialist manufacturing backgrounds may all be suitable for this opportunity.
