One of the most traditional ways to find a job is to apply to advertisements in the national press such as the Daily Telegraph on a Thursday, the Sunday Times etc. Local newspapers are worth reviewing on the relevant job nights and for specialist vacancies, relevant trade press, also most Professional Institutions have a publication carrying job adverts. It is often easy to identify companies who are developing long term, from job adverts, even if they are not advertising a job you could do, if you have relevant skills or better some direct industry sector experience, it might still be worth giving them a call.
When applying remember your objectives ;
- Your covering letter should encourage them to read your CV.
- Your CV should encourage them to ask you to attend interview.
- Your interview is your opportunity to sell yourself for the job.
